The   Karonga  Polytechnic is a leading  provider of   Open  Distance  Learning [ODL]   in   Malawi. Registered  in   February  2004  as  a private   institution   of  higher  learning. Karonga    Polytechnic   (KAPOLY)   entered   into  a  non-exclusive,   non-transferable   right    with  the  University  of   South  Africa   (UNISA),   to  offer  administrative,  tuition  and  academic   support   in   the  country.   Currently,  Karonga   Polytechnic   only   offers  administrative    support  to  prospective   UNISA   students   in  the  country   at   its  BCCAD   office  in  Karonga.  KAPOLY   advertise   UNISA   programmes,   enroll  students,   receive  UNISA  fees,  in  return,  UNISA   register  a  student,  issues  study   materials,  Examinations,  gets  UNISA  certificates. 

More  dematative  role   of  what  Karonga  Polytechnic  is  doing  in Malawi and  what  UNISA   shall  continue  doing to support Karonga Polytechnic and its students  can  be  found   in  the   Memorandum  of  Agreement  between  Karonga  Polytechnic  and  UNISA  if requested..

Operational Policy
 Its   our   belief  that   we  must  serve  the  needs  of   the  individuals,  enterprises  and  communities   from  which  our  students  originates,  therefore,  the  college   will
  1.  Access   to  good-quality  yet   reasonably   priced  education   that  it  provides  in   Malawi
  2. Create  a  learning  environment   that  will  support  the  student’s    personal  development  and  enable  them  to  acquire  the  necessary  knowledge   and  appropriate   skills  including   interpersonal   ones  which    will  lead  to  qualifications   relevant  to  their  future   employment.
  3. Through   the  success  of   college’s    completing   students   and   graduates  to  help   them   to  contribute   to  the  well  being   of   the  enterprise  they  work   for  and  through  this   the  economies  in  this  country.

5)    A  team  of  staff  with  a  willingness  and  commitment  to  effective  improvement  and  innovations.
6)    A broadband   integrated  and   updated  communication   system.
7)    Extensive   technical   and  operational   support  it  gets  from  UNISA.
8)    National   flavors  and  characters  to   match   the  colleges’  activities  and   respond   quickly   to  specific  requirements,  concern  and   priorities.
